The first time I visited the Basilica of St. Mary I remember wishing that I could shoot a wedding there. I am not sure if anyone can resist being moved by the powerful architecture. This wedding made my dreams come true, and I only wish I could relive making these photographs over and over again. They chose this place for emotional significance as well as the classic look and feel. The couple's advice to those planning a wedding is to pray a lot and offer up worry to Jesus to get rid of any anxiety.
There were so many precious moments that it's hard to believe that they could all have happened in one day. I overheard Hector saying he had a crush on Nikayla the first time he saw her as he was getting ready. Nikayla tearfully reading the letter he wrote to her was heartbreakingly sweet. In this letter he expressed his love, and announced where they were going to go on their honeymoon--Rome! I was so excited for the both of them. Getting married was so meaningful for them, especially to be able to do so at the Basilica, nearby where they now have their first home together, something I know Nikayla did not expect to happen as quickly as it did.
Hector and Nikayla saved their first look for when she walked down the aisle. One of my favorite moments was when the two quickly snuck away to pray back to back before everyone gathered excitedly for their ceremony to begin.
